Out of Town PatientsMany patients travel from out of town to have cosmetic surgery with Dr. Nichols. Travel can be from anywhere including the surrounding communities, a drive from Olympia or as far away as Alaska. The first step for many out of town patients is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Nichols. The first step of the consultation can be done by phone and allows Dr. Nichols to discuss your desired procedures, go over the surgery process and gather the appropriate information necessary to ensure your questions and concerns can be addressed properly. This initial phone consultation can sometimes allow you to get a tentative surgical date pending a formal consult and examination in our office. In general, patients who live more than 90 minutes away from our office should plan to spend the night. Out-of-state and out-of-the country patients will typically stay in Tacoma anywhere from a few days to three weeks, depending on your surgery. The more extensive surgeries such as the body lift procedure usually require a 2 1/2 week stay in town, some patients are not allowed to take long car trips or flights home for at least a week. If you are staying in a hotel, our office can assist with transportation arrangements for post op visits. Patients are typically seen in the office for the post op visits. Our patient coordinator will discuss your needs and help you select your hotel. Discount hotel rates have been arranged at many of the area hotels, ranging in price and amenities. For a list of hotels, please refer to our hotel list. Depending on your needs, we can arrange for a single night stay or for a recovery involving 2-3 weeks.
